Synopsis:
Ferris is looking after his sister's seedy hotel. Two young couples arrive. Roger has arranged an assignation with Sally, leaving his wife Helen at home, but Helen and Geoff, Sally's husband, have also made plans for a naughty weekend together - at the same hotel. The mischievous Ferris discovers their guilty secrets and tries (at some financial reward to himself) to prevent the inevitable meeting of husbands, wives and lovers in assorted compromising situations.

A Word From The Director

When I was approached some years ago to direct a play for SPP I was flattered.  The choice of play was easy: it had to be fun.  I chose Bedside Manners not only because it is fun, but because it gives the actors some experience in the most difficult forms of theatre  farce.

A comedy is a show where the humour lies in the situation.  A farce derives its humour from the situation the characters themselves create.  It is extremely difficult to act as if you have no idea what the others on stage are saying when you have in fact, read the entire script.

Bedside Manners puts our characters into more and more compromising situations that could all be resolved with one simple admission  the truth.
It has been an absolute pleasure to direct this cast and I hope that you have brought your tissues, because you are going to be spending most of the show in tears of laughter.  Or at least, that's our aim.

Before the show starts, close your eyes and, when you open them, don't see a stage.  See a window to the inside of a hotel.  Sit back and watch the mayhem unfold.
